A local Australian newspaper group recently engaged NRS Media to help them grow their client base and the results have been exceptional across the board, generating around $300,000 in additional revenue. Southern Independent Publishers (SIP) has three local newspapers in regional markets. The recent economic slowdown had discouraged local small businesses from advertising and subsequently diminished the newspapers’ ad revenue. Management realised advertisers were spooked and they needed to re-invigorate the market and instil confidence in the recovering economy. New Advertisers, New Categories In order to help them achieve this, the newspaper group partnered with NRS Media to implement the AD Impact™ solution – a comprehensive new customer acquisition solution designed by NRS Media specifically for the newspaper industry. The key to the success of this program is its focus on brand advertising and promoting the benefits of consistent branding to advertisers. The use of seminar methodology to be informative and educational helps capture new or infrequent advertisers and new categories. So what was it about AD Impact that appealed to the advertisers? According to SIP’s Publishing Manager Joanne Barr, “Our belief is that local business owners were looking for answers as the economic downturn eased and were open to NRS Media’s message. So for us, the timing was right.” A Well-oiled Machine Joanne says, “Southern Independent Publishers has been totally satisfied with every aspect of the program. Once it was decided to go ahead, both NRS Media and Southern Independent teams were joined at the hip and worked as one.” “The planning was crucial. The NRS Media team were like a well-oiled machine and executed every detail with precision.”
